英语的连词分为两类，并列连词和从属连词。
1.并列连词用来连接并列关系的词，词组或分句。他包括and, or ,but ,so ,for, both …and ,either …or ,neither…nor, not only …but also.比如:
He got up and put on his hat.他站起来，戴上了帽子。
He is old, but he looks very young.他老了，但他看起来很年轻。
2.从属连词用来引导从句(主语从句，表语从句，宾语从句，同位语从句,定语从句)，它包括that ,where, till ,until，after，before, since, because ,if ,weather, though, although, so …that ,so that ,in order that, as soon as, as …as ,can.比如:
I think that he likes football.我想他喜欢足球。
When I read she sang.我在看书时，她在唱歌。
